Six Leadership Principles All it takes to be in charge is to be hired or promoted into that position. Over time, however, being a successful manager means developing your skills in turning principles into practice. At MGS we work with six leadership principles as practical ways to focus on the development of leadership capacity.
Business Planning and Values I spent ten years at Microsoft in various organizations, contributing to and leading various efforts at business planning. This article is derived from that experience - as a very brief description of some of the lessons about "values" that I learned in that environment. The points presented here are also discussed in depth in the MGS Workshop on Strategic Business Planning.
Secrets to Successful Delegating The art of delegating is one that takes years of practice. It often appears deceivingly easy - just ask someone else to do something for you. What's so hard about that? However, as many of us know who have handed off a project to someone and watched the project get "dropped" - or those of us who have had something delegated to us and then "snatched back" after we have invested a lot of work and personal energy... delegating is often easier to "mess up" than it is to "do it right." Here are a few tips on delegating - which are covered in depth in the MGS Workshop on Understanding And Managing Team Dynamics.
Stages of Progressive Dementia Alzheimer's (Progressive Dementia) is a chronic, slow, progressive, and fatal disease. The disease, although global in its destruction, progresses in a predictable manner. For those caring for a parent or relative with this disease it can be helpful to know how the disease can be staged and measured in order to have clear expectations while moving through this difficult time. Our work with caregivers in this area focuses on understanding the disease and understanding how you as caregivers can positively respond.
The Dementia Capable Caregiver The Dementia Capable Caregiver is a unique individual. One who has patience, compassion, hope and humor. One who knows that as best as we can do, we cannot stop this awful disease from progressing, from stealing away those whom we have come to care for and from the families we've come to know and cherish. And in all this, the Dementia Capable Caregiver brings hope, kindness and support, often without thanks and recognition. MGS workshops in Dementia-Capable Care focus on building individual expertise and teamwork to handle this difficult responsibility.
